The invention provides compound medicine for treating colitis. The compound medicine is prepared through the steps as follows: uniformly mixing the crude drugs in parts by weight: 10-40 parts of parched white peony root 5-30 parts of dried alum 15-40 parts of semen plantaginis 5-30 parts of coptis chinensis 5-20 parts of calcined halloysitum rubrum 5-30 parts of rheum officinale and 10-30 parts of cortex cinnamomi and extracting the traditional Chinese medicine active components; decocting the mixture with water for 3 times taking 0.5-1 hour every timecombining the three-time decoction filtering and concentrating to form the thick paste with the temperature of 60 DEG C and the relative density of 1.25-1.3 drying the thick paste at the temperature of 50-60 DEG C and crushing the thick paste into powder with 100 meshes; adding the crude drugs of 5-20 parts of lactasin 10-40 parts of metronidazole 0.5-5 parts of diazepam and 10-40 parts of cimetidine by weight to the extracted traditional Chinese medicine active components uniformly mixing and putting the mixture into a capsule and performing sterilization to obtain the capsule product. The compound medicine provided by the invention has the functions of soothing liver and strengthening spleen relieving spasm to stop pain and astringing intestine to stop diarrhea and is short in course of treatment of acute and chronic colitis and effective in treatment. Through clinical observation of curative effects of 60 patients 51 patients are cured the illness conditions of 6 patients are improved 3 patients are not cured due to ineffectiveness of the compound medicine the effective rate is 95% and the cure rate is 85%. During medication no adverse reaction exists.
