In the present invention there is disclosed a process for preparing a lyophilized preparation containing pantoprazole wherein the preoparation process comprises freeze-drying of an aqueous solution of pantoprazole ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid and/or a suitable salt thereof and sodium hydroxide and/or sodium carbonate. The thus obtained preparations have advantageous properties when reconstituted for injection.

The present invention concerns the field of pharmaceutical technology and relates to a suppository for rectal administration comprising at least one pellet in particular a pellet comprising the proton pump inhibitor pantoprazole. In addition the present invention concerns a process for preparing such a suppository.
