It was an object of the present invention to provide an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) for the glycosidase inhibitor acarbose. The object is achieved with an orally disintegrating tablet containing 130% acarbose and 4090% water-soluble carrier. In order to obtain the desired properties the ingredients have to be precompacted and to be premixed with an insoluble carrier.

Disclosed herein are compositions comprising 1) 4-[3-amino-4(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)butanoyl]-3-piperazin-2-one derivatives of formula I, wherein X is OR1, SR1, or NR1R2, and the other substituents are as defined within the specification, and 2) one or more other antidiabetic or antiobesity agents, such as alpha-glucosidase inhibitors selected from acarbose, voglibose, emiglitate and miglitol.
