The present invention relates to a core tablet for the protracted release of gliclazide i.e. a compound exhibiting antidiabetic properties which enables continuous and constant release after oral administration whereby the release is independent on pH variations of a medium in which the dissolving takes place. The tablet is useful in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
