PURPOSE: A dividable galenical form which is able to control the release of effective ingredient is provided to partially overcome problem related to re-dividing of tablet. CONSTITUTION: A dividable control-release tablet comprises effective ingredient, cellulose derivative and binder. The effective ingredient is gliclazide. The cellulose derivative is hydroxy methyl cellulose, a hydroxyethylcellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and/or hydroxypropyl cellulose.

The invention relates to a matrix tablet for the prolonged release of gliclazide which ensures continuous and consistent release of the active ingredient after administration by the oral route, the release being insensitive to variations in the pH of the dissolution medium.
